Project Title: Design of hemi-spherical bulkhead
Project Description: The analysis were carried out for the design of hemispherical segmental steel bulkhead of umbrella shape with folds along the meridians and stiffeners along the circumferential direction to investigate the utilization of strength of folds as well as the curvature effect of the dome - and to design an economical bulkhead for the intake shafts. The hemispherical segmental bulkhead replaces four conventional units of bulkheads – viz. three cylindrical and one flat bulkhead and thus gives economy in terms of material and fabrication.
